Professor and Dean Emerita, College of Health and Human Services, University of North Carolina Charlotte; academic and administrative appointments at Indiana University and University of South Florida. Other work experiences as registered nurse and family therapist. Volunteer work includes serving on community boards of American Red Cross, Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association, Mental Health Center. Previous publications in areas of nursing, mental health, families, social networks, philosophy of science, human development, and food.
Currently retired from academic career and enjoying challenges and joys of life as a freelance writer. Married with two grown children. Divides time between city living in Charlotte, NC, and the solitude and slower-paced mountain living in Burnsville, NC for part of the year. Some of Sue’s passions are family and friends, dinner parties with engaging conversation on varied topics, healthy living, creative cooking, reading widely, music in various forms, writing, and learning something new each day.
